Splash
by Shubhoshree Mitra

Spring is a splash of colors
Of beautiful and fresh flowers
Blue, yellow and red
Orange , purple, violet
When I see their colors like fire and gold
I fold my hands and pray to you Dear God.

Shubhoshree Mitra is nine years old and studies in Grade 4 at the Clarendon Primary School for Girls in East London, South Africa. This poem received a Commendation Award in 2005 at the Border Schools' Poetry Competition organized annually by the East London Writer's Group.
