The Wish Fulfilling Ring
by Amit Gupta

Jayant, the poor farmer, had three sons. All the three young men were intelligent and educated, but none of them wished to follow his fathers path. They wanted to go into trading business, but Jayant was poor, he had not much money to give his children for their business.

One day the younger brother Mohan was wandering in the dense forest near his fields. There he saw a shining ring. He carried it to his father. Jayant was delighted to see the ring and wished, " I wish I had a houseful of gold." His house was filled by gold coins in the twinkle of an eye and soon Jayant realized that the ring was a wish-fulfillment ring.

Jayant wore the ring so that it would always be with him. Jayant had an uncle who was very wicked to get the ring for him. One day he said to Mohan

" Can you persuade your father to let you wear his ring for a day?"
" Why not? He is my father. I gave him the ring...!" Mohan said.

In the morning he asked his father to be allowed to put on the ring for a day.

" Why for a day my son? You can wear this forever! But did not give it to any one, because it is a wish fulfilling ring?" Jayant said giving the ring to Mohan.

In the evening Mohan showed the ring to his uncle. Uncle was wicked and he snatched the ring form Mohan and wished to become a bird and fly away. All the magical things disappeared and they became poor once again, and the children were very unhappy at their misfortune.

Sohan the elder son of Jayant went out in search of his wicked uncle. His uncle lived a life of rich man. He reached the palatial house and saw his uncle asleep. His uncle kept the ring near his bed. Sohan drew the ring and ran to his father. They wished a magnificent house and began to live happily.

Time passed, one night the wicked uncle enter the palatial house to snatch the ring. Monu, the younger son of Jayant saw his wicked uncle trying to kill his father. He fought bravely and started shouting. Soon wicked uncle was captured and sent to prison.

After this incident all the three sons of Jayant started quarreling, because each one claimed that they served his father better than the others.

Then Jayant said,

" All of you are equal for me. Mohan discovered the magical ring, But Sohan recovered it with courage but Monu service is more valuable because it not only prevented your uncle from taking away the ring, but also saved my life, you all are equal valuable me.
