Daisy
by Rajender Krishan

Daisy (Bellis perennis) is a wild flower with short creeping rhizomes and small rounded or spoon shaped evergreen leaves. It is not destroyed by mowing and is therefore often called a weed on lawns. The outer florets are white to light pink and the small fertile central florets are golden yellow. It is thought that the name "daisy" is a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning.
