Ram to the Rescue
by Michael

Once upon a time a man called Ram was walking through a forest to a nearby village.

He was surprised to see that all the animals in the forest lived together peacefully. He was delighted to see colorful birds flying all around him and cute rabbits munching a carrot some distance away. There were deer running around and squirrel climbing trees.

As ram was admiring the beauty of nature around him, he heard a horse neighing loudly far away. The voice of the horse seemed to be one in distress. Curious, Ram ran to find out the reason why the horse was neighing loudly.

Suddenly as he turned around a corner Ram came across a white horse neighing in pain. The horse could talk and so it asked Ram whether he could remove a splinter in its hoof. Full of pity, ram approached the horse and removed the splinter from the horse’s hoof.

Ram asked how it got hurt. The horse said that there was a big black bear, which liked to scare and hurt other animals. The horse added that people seldom crossed the forest since the bear was known to take away their belongings.

Ram was sad to hear that there was a bad bear called Babu, which hurt the other animals. The horse whose name was Hodja went with Ram in search of the bad bear Babu.

Ram and the horse Hodja came upon a clearing where many animals were standing in front of a bear.

Babu asked all the animals to bring it food Even the mighty elephant cowered in front of it. Babu loved to bully others and when he did not get his way he hurt them.

There was a hut near the clearing where an old man lived with a boy called Jack. Jack met Ram and told him that Babu had stolen some food from his cottage. Ram was determined to help Jack and get the food back. He went back to find the bear dozing near a tree with a bag of food near him.

Gathering all his courage Ram went near the bear. At that moment the bear woke up and was very angry to see Ram. Calmly, Ram talked to the bear and told him the harmful effects of stealing food and hurting other animals. Ram told Babu that being good to others makes them happy and will make him happy too.

Babu felt sad after hearing what Ram said and gave back the food he stole from jack.

Babu vowed that he would never steal again and hurt other animals. He called all the animals and asked them to forgive him.

Meanwhile Ram went to meet Jack with the bag of food. When Jack heard all that had happened he was extremely delighted and thanked Ram for all his help.

All the animals the forest was happy that Babu had changed his ways and he had many friends.

Meanwhile Ram went on his way happy that he had helped Jack and changed Babu from his mean ways.

Thus all the animals in the forest lived happily ever after.
