A New Life
by Arpita Sur

Dong!

The church bell rang as the clock struck 12 at mid night.

Everyone in the town started wishing each other happy new year!

Have a good day.

As I sat in a corner with hope in my heart, I thought at least one person would notice me but no one did. As I sat there rattling my can as every person strode past me with happy faces, no one noticed my glum face. After a while a little girl came with her mother, she asked her mother something which I could not hear. After a pause her mother nodded and the girl asked me, “Hello! Do you want to come to my house? It is very big you can even go to school with me”. “Yes” said I. I was not able to believe my ears! Me going to live in a house! Oh! It is really a new and happy year. The house was really very big. I was given a fairly big room.

I was very happy! I had started a new life. Can you ever think of a beggar becoming a school student?
