Horton Hatches The Egg
by Aara Sheth
Book Reviews by members of Reading Rainbow Club

This is a story of a lazy bird who lays an egg and then goes for a vacation. She asks an elephant to sit on her egg before she goes away. The elephant sits on her egg through the winter and rain but the bird never came back and then the elephant hatches the egg.

I liked the book because the elephant was good, helpful and faithful. The book is very funny, we laugh a lot. The funniest part of the book is when the egg hatches and an elephant-bird flies out of the egg. But there’s a sad part too. I feel sorry for the elephant when he has to sit through the winter and rain. He looks so tired, cold and unwell. I don’t like the bird. I would never want to be like her because she was lazy. And the elephant inspires me to be helpful and faithful.
