Good manners
by Kamal Nayan Mohapatra

Manners reflect the culture learning’s, attitude and the depth of person’s personality. Hence good manners make complete man, a man who is essential for the sustenance of human civilization. Without good manners a man is like a purse without money, though it is very attractive from outside.

Good manners are the upbringing and teachings of the family. A person who is brought up in a good environment reflects all good manners and positive emotions. We may call them flowers of the “garden of mankind”. Good manners are color grace to life. They make the life run smoothly.

Good manners are not born with us. They are to be learnt. If a child were not taught how to behave respectively, he would grow up to be rough and rude. A cultured person is educated and understands the value of good manners while an uncultured person creates all disturbances in the society

The ideas of good manner differ in different countries as per their customs. In India guests are regarded as images or representative of God. So it is mandatory in India to offer the guest for the best service possible.

Good manners are ornament of a person. A real gentleman will never try to hurt the feelings of others. Even he will not speak in a rude way to offend others. He will care for the happiness of others more than his own

One should be sympathetic towards the weak and old. We should not use harshed word even if any one harsh to you. We should be humble and polite. This manner of ours will bring us many friends. Sweet words are essential for success. We should show courtesy to everyone. We should pray to God and thus make ourselves pure our thoughts which in turn will develop good manners.

Good manners also include table manners and general behavior. We should leave the table until others have finished we must wait for turn in a queue whenever we are in a public place. We must offer our seat in a bus or train when we are traveling, to lady or disabled persons. If they are standing. We must not damage any public property.

Good manners really form a gentle, courteous and selfless person and such persons are assets of society and hence loved by all. So, good manners should be followed by every body from the early stage of childhood. It improves the way we live ourselves.
