Poems
Life of a Coin
by Sonali Patnaik

Here is a coin roaming all around
I do not know where it stays about
Once a coin fell in the hands of a businessman
Who was sitting on a fence
Glanced at me at that time
And gave it to a poor beggar aside
The beggar thanked God thousand times
And gave it to the shopkeeper behind
The shopkeeper gave it to his son one day
The poor boy put it in his moneybox the next day
Then by chance it fell into the well
But it (coin) was not well
A frog took it away
A man cleaned the well one day
The coin slipped from the frog
The rag-picker gave him a hug
Again it went to a shopkeeper
Its journey went on and on.
